This client is currently looking for an IT support person to join their Support team. The successful candidate will:

  • Support a wide range of IT and different customers (both large and small)
  • Work from both the office and when necessary on customer sites. This may involve overnight stays.
  • Work on IT projects for their customers
  • Assist with the management, upkeep and enhancement of internal company systems
  • Assist in the production of quotations for IT projects
  • Continually enhance their knowledge of all relevant IT systems in use
  • Be able to work shifts during weekdays (earliest start time is 07:30, latest end time is 20:00) and provide 24x7 on-call service (presently remote only). Services will change over time so they must be flexible and adaptable

Who You'll Be

  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as being self-motivated
  • Be methodical and thorough with documentation and in general
  • Be flexible and adaptable
  • It is also essential for the candidate to have a full UK driving licence and have the use of a car during working/on-call hours.
  • Have a UK degree in an IT related discipline, an equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience

Technical Skills

Working experience and understanding of the following technologies is required:

  • Microsoft Windows server operating systems
  • Microsoft Windows client operating systems
  • Microsoft Exchange & general understanding of email
  • Office 365
  • Microsoft Office
  • Server virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, etc)
  • Network Attached Storage (NAS)
  • General networking
  • TCP/IP and associated technologies (e.g., DNS, WINS, DHCP)
  • Basic understanding of Firewalls including NAT and Firewall rules
  • Mobile access to business email (eg, MS Exchange) – Android, iPhone, etc
  • Anti-virus / anti-spyware / anti-spam
  • Server / system backup solutions including online/Cloud backup

Working experience and understanding of the following technologies is desired:

  • Storage Area Networks (SANs)
  • Telephony including Voice-over-IP (VoIP)
  • Remote Desktop Services
  • Cloud services – such as Azure, Amazon Cloud, file sharing (eg, Dropbox), etc
