The Company

Our client is a market leading, award-winning fintech business, with its head office located in Darlington, County Durham. As an international success story, they design, build and support mobile solutions for Accountants across the globe, including the USA, Australia, South Africa, Canada and more.

Working with this client isn’t just another day in the office - they’re a friendly, fun and family run business and importantly, they’re a curious bunch of people - this is often seen in their pioneering approach to the solutions they build - and it’s a key driver in their adoption of some of the latest technology.

They’re big believers in developing their team - delivering more for the individual and as a consequence, more for the business. You can see this in their regular training sessions, and for their development team - continued professional development in the form of both online and off-site courses.

The Role

Their team are talented and passionate about mobile technology, and are highly motivated by the success stories their solutions afford customers.

You will work with some of the best technology, with more on the horizon, utilising many of the AWS cloud products. In addition, our client's tech stack is always under review and we are in the process of moving towards an Angular + Typescript future with our Javascript code base - and a serverless API platform to replace our legacy PHP based systems.

Couple this focus on always advancing their stack, with dedicated training budgets, and continued professional development and you can see why being a developer here is a big deal.

As part of their technical team, you will play an invaluable role in the delivery of their roadmap objectives. Your expertise will support the existing team and you will be asked to contribute your thoughts, experiences and wishes for the product future (it’s a two way street - you need to believe in the products you build!).

In addition to the rest of the development team, you will work alongside their designers and delivery team in a fast paced, enjoyable environment.

It’s the perfect role if you have the right skillset, so you must be able to demonstration the following abilities:

  • Experience of working with Node.
  • Good knowledge of databases, in particular, MySQL.

  • Detail orientated and a forward thinker, ensuring your work is the highest of quality.
  • Excellent commercial development experience, demonstrated in your previous positions.
  • Passionate about development, and always ready to learn more.
  • A motivated, fun, open-minded, flexible and supportive personality

What’s nice, but not essential?

  • Experience in AWS products (we use a huge number of these, and are very cloud focussed!).
  • Knowledge of Angular or Vue would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working in PHP, in particular the Laravel platform.

The Responsibilities

  • Working as a part of the development team to deliver against roadmap and quality objectives.
  • Working in an agile environment, to deliver user stories and implement within the times agreed.
  • Work with the team to review code from colleagues and input where needed.
  • Contribute to team development in the form of processes, best practice and documentation.
  • Working closely with their delivery team to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Ongoing support and maintenance of existing systems.
