Our clients are specialists in diesel power sales, repair and maintenance, with a highly skilled and experienced team of over 50 OEM trained engineers with expertise across multiple disciplines and all engine types. They can be mobilised 24/7 wherever the engine, whatever the problem.


A developer responsible for the development of existing and future products, with a particular focus on working with senior team members developing and improving both our existing web portal and software products.

The role is based out of Newcastle, but it is a requirement of this role that the job holder will be prepared to travel, overseas and within the UK.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Full life cycle software development in line with current projects

  • Maintain source control according to company standards

  • Review and understand all current systems, internal and outsourced

  • Producing detailed specifications and writing high quality code by utilising the latest engineering best practices and tools

  • Develop user interfaces with consideration for the interaction between users and process

  • Testing and code review in controlled, real situations before going live, in accordance with QA standards

  • Preparation of training manuals for customers and internal staff

  • Maintaining systems once they are up and running

  • Provide technical support to both customers and employees for issues escalated from the technical helpdesk

  • Improve and develop test, installation and commissioning procedures

  • Integration of new features into existing systems

  • Create and maintain software development standards

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

Success in this role will be judged by the following key performance indicators:

Essential Skills Required:

  • Experience with Object Oriented Programming (OOP), ideally in C# / .NET

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Test driven development & code review

  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both verbal and written

Desirable Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of development experience

  • Database development (MySQL, T-SQL)

  • Web API development (particularly ASP.NET)

  • Experience using the Microsoft Azure platform and services

  • Experience with the LabVIEW language

  • Understanding of basic computer networking (TCP/IP, UDP, firewalls)

  • Understanding of security practices, communication protocols and encryption

  • Ability to learn new skills, programming languages and applications quickly

  • Ability to deconstruct a user story into its required components for development

  • Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)

  • Ability to create intuitive graphical user interfaces

  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot National Instruments hardware

  • Ability to marshal resources to get things done effectively and efficiently

  • Ability to solve problems calling for technical analysis

  • Ability to make independent judgments with limited information

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to rapidly change roles and responsibilities while working in a fast-paced, challenging work environment

  • Marine and Offshore industry experience
