Our client is a white-label software platform that helps businesses sell photobooks, calendars and other photo gifts through any device via web and desktop applications.

They offer a suite of five applications that gives businesses the tools to manage every aspect of the process from product design to eCommerce and print production.

They are distributed via a dedicated network consisting of its own global team and a worldwide reseller channel. Their HQ is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, with offices in the USA, Netherlands, Hong Kong and Japan.


They're offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven and proactive Software Testing Specialist to join their QA team in Ponteland.

As a core member of their Agile research and development team, you will be expected to be passionate about delivering high quality software, with a focus on high attention to detail and hitting targeted release dates. Using functional, regression and manual testing of the system you will confidently test and collaborate on new software features and existing defects.

The role requires a strong team player with effective communication skills in order to help them continually innovate and improve the product development pipeline.

Their Core applications are developed and delivered using PHP, HTML5, MySQL, JavaScript (JQuery, Ext-JS) with Git and TeamCity.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Test new software features

  • Collaborate with colleagues on both enhancements and bugs

  • Contribute to Pre-Release testing of the product prior to deployment to live production environments

  • Confidently test and collaborate on new software features and fixing existing defects using functional, regression and manual testing methods

  • Report test results clearly and concisely

  • Identify defects and features for further investigation and testing

  • Raise clear and concise defect reports in Jira and defect management software with appropriate evidence (e.g. photos, video and logs)

  • Test Online, Mobile and Desktop based software solutions

  • Install/upgrade both the Taopix application and our supported 3rd party technologies on Windows and Linux operating systems

  • Review and analyse system specifications

  • Collaborate with QA team members to develop effective strategies and test plans

  • Evaluate product code according to specifications

  • Create logs to document testing phases and defects

  • Report bugs and errors to development teams

  • Help troubleshoot issues

  • Conduct post-release / post-implementation testing

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Problem solving & Judgement – ensures full awareness of available facts before making decisions

  • Business awareness – understands the business needs and prioritises and constantly sees methods of ensuring delivery

Skills Required:

  • Proven experience as a Software Testing Specialist or similar role

  • Appropriate skills and commercial experience in a software environment

  • Experience of functional, regression and manual testing

  • Meticulous approach to software testing activities with a focus on high attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to colleagues

  • Able to deal effectively with unexpected situations, taking advantage of opportunities and overcoming problems

  • Good time management skills and ability to meet targets and fulfil agreements

  • A strong interest in software testing with a desire to progress and positively influence software development

  • Willing and able to develop knowledge of the wider area of work

  • Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude

  • Strong organisational skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in Agile/SCRUM environments and/or Waterfall

  • ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing

  • Experience in Defect Management; JIRA; automated testing (Selenium, Behat, Cucumber, Gherkin)

  • A degree in Computer Science or a relevant numerical subject
