Essential Requirements

Working within their R&D department, you should be an excellent problem solver, highly resourceful and have the skills to implement elegant programming solutions. You'll be able to confidently share your ideas as well as listen to other people's and effectively communicate new features and functionality to a diverse audience.

  • 3+ years web development experience in a commercial environment
  • Ability to develop software in TypeScript, MySQL, cross-browser and cross-device JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • Solid experience in modern front end frame works (e.g. Vue.js or React)
  • Working knowledge of modern dev tools (e.g. composer, grunt, webpack)
  • Good understanding of coding responsive web interfaces
  • Experience with version control systems(Git)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to colleagues
  • Able to deal effectively with unexpected situations, taking advantage of opportunities and overcoming problems
  • Good time management skills and ability to meet targets and fulfil agreements
  • Willing and able to develop knowledge of the wider area of work
  • Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of other programming languages such as PHP, Perl, Java, C/C++•Experience with Amazon AWS technologies

  • Experience with Linux servers running PHP in a production environment
  • Experience with web server (Apache) configuration and optimisation 
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

Responsibilities within the Development Function

Working in an agile team consisting of designers, testers and developers, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining the suite of products ensuring they work seamlessly together. Working within Jira, their agile software development process is running through daily stand-ups, sprint reviews and sprint planning sessions.  

We expect you to work as part of a team to achieve the following responsibilities: 

  • Developing and maintaining the existing backend suite and shopping cart
  • Implementing and supporting payment gateway integrations into their software platform
  • Maintaining a successful integration with AWS S3 services for image upload and download
  • Maintaining their software build procedure along with other DevOps tools•Providing third line support to the customer service team
  • Accurately estimating and planning tasks
  • Sharing new ideas and concepts relevant to the progression of their platform
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle•Problem solving & Judgement –ensurefull awareness of available facts before making decisions
  • Delivers results –ensures own role continues to add value to the business
  • Business awareness –understands the business needs and prioritises and constantly sees methods of ensuring delivery
  • Creativity –creates an environment that encourages creativity and new practices
  • Develop Self & others –recognises the need to refresh knowledge and skills to ensure they are relevant for tomorrow's challenges
