This is an unboxing article about Notion Devkit, a Neurosity wearable.

When I first came across Notion, my initial reaction was skeptical. "How could a wearable detect my thought?" But after read through reading Neurosity's website, I was intrigued. As I did more research, the intrigue gradually won over the skeptical.

This You can now think to scroll post provide enough intrigue that I went ahead to request a DevKit, and I am very lucky to get one of the first batch!

First, this is outside of the box. All black color packaging, with Neurosity on the side.

Upon opening the box, you can see Notion and Neurosity's logo on its hard case. Also in the box is a simple flyer.

Once I unzip the case, you can see the Neurosity wearable on one side...

Of course, I am mostly excited about the wearable. It required some initial charging out of the box.

Here is another angle of Notion DevKit.

Another angle of Notion DevKit

According to the documentation, the proper way to wear this is to be at an 45 degree angle. Neurosity claimed that "Notion does not fit on every head the same, but it does fit all heads." I have a giant head, but I was able to extend the Notion to the max length and try to put it on like the picture here:

Notion's signature angle. Notice She is not looking down, her head is upright.

Notion has 8 different electrodes touching your scalp and try to measure the brainwave. I thought it would not be comfortable to wear for a long time. However, I found that you get used to the feeling pretty quick.

Upon register my Notion, I also walk through the "Hello World" like application pretty smoothly. The software application part use Node JS, and if you are familiar with Git and a package manager like NPM, the tutorial will be very straightforward for you.

I am looking forward to hear from community if there are questions people have, and what you would expect to see from someone who have a Notion DevKit. I have just learned this morning that Kurt Kemple also have one, and he has already wrote an article on how to use AWS Amplify with Notion to visualized focus. I recommend you check it out if you haven't.
